Through critical repairs, attainable renovations, and community partnerships, The Faatz Foundation helps Brunswick County homeowners remain safely in the places they call home.

Practical Help. Meaningful Impact.

The Faatz Foundation assists Brunswick County homeowners facing unsafe living conditions, serious residential repair needs, or financial barriers that make necessary improvements difficult to complete.

Every request is different. We approach each situation with compassion, respect, and a commitment to finding practical solutions. Assistance may include donated work, reduced-cost services, contributed materials, professional partnerships, or other resources available to the Foundation.

Our purpose is not simply to improve properties. It is to protect the safety, stability, and dignity that a secure home provides.

Critical repairs address conditions that may affect a home’s safety, security, health, or continued habitability.

Projects considered may include:

  • Unsafe or deteriorating flooring

  • Roof leaks and storm-related damage

  • Water intrusion and moisture damage

  • Failing porches, steps, or entryways

  • Essential structural repairs

  • Damaged exterior siding

  • Repairs affecting basic utilities

  • Accessibility and mobility improvements

  • Other serious health or safety concerns

Assistance is prioritized based on the urgency of the condition, the homeowner’s circumstances, project feasibility, and available resources.

Some homeowners need more extensive improvements but cannot afford traditional retail renovation costs. When resources allow, the Foundation may help identify ways to make necessary renovations more attainable.

Assistance may include:

  • Evaluating the project and identifying essential priorities

  • Helping establish a practical scope of work

  • Connecting homeowners with qualified professionals

  • Securing donated or reduced-cost materials

  • Coordinating contributed labor or services

  • Completing approved work at a reduced cost

  • Phasing a project according to urgency and available resources

Renovation assistance is intended for necessary residential improvements. The Foundation does not provide luxury remodeling or purely cosmetic upgrades.

Our commitment to Brunswick County extends beyond residential repairs. The Faatz Foundation also supports select charitable causes, community programs, partnerships, and events that improve the lives of local residents.

Support may include:

  • Partnering with local nonprofit organizations

  • Supporting community fundraisers

  • Contributing services, materials, or resources

  • Assisting local families during times of need

  • Participating in volunteer initiatives

  • Hosting or benefiting from charitable community events

Community support is considered based on alignment with the Foundation’s mission, local impact, available resources, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

The Foundation’s residential assistance is focused on owner-occupied primary residences located in Brunswick County, North Carolina.

Priority may be given to households experiencing:

  • Unsafe or deteriorating living conditions

  • Financial hardship

  • Storm, flood, or water-related damage

  • Circumstances that could force a family from its home

The Foundation considers every request individually and strives to treat each applicant with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Our Process

1. Submit a Request

The homeowner, family member, or referring organization submits information about the property, household, and needed repairs.

2. Initial Review

The Foundation reviews the request to determine whether it aligns with its mission, service area, and current capabilities.

3. Property Evaluation

If the request moves forward, a representative may contact the homeowner, request documentation, and schedule a property assessment.

4. Project Decision

The Foundation evaluates the urgency, cost, feasibility, available funding, donated resources, and potential community partnerships before making a decision.

The Faatz Foundation’s work is strengthened by the generosity of individuals, contractors, suppliers, businesses, volunteers, sponsors, and community organizations.

Projects may be supported through:

  • Financial contributions

  • Donated construction materials

  • Professional services

  • Skilled volunteer labor

  • Reduced-cost contractor services

  • Corporate or community sponsorships

  • Fundraising events

  • Partnerships with other nonprofit organizations

Each contribution helps the Foundation direct more resources toward creating safe and secure homes for Brunswick County families.

Before You Apply

Submitting a request does not guarantee assistance. The Faatz Foundation has limited funding, materials, labor, and project capacity. Requests are considered based on:

  • Alignment with the Foundation’s mission

  • Homeownership and residency requirements

  • Severity and urgency of the need

  • Health and safety concerns

  • Household circumstances

  • Project scope and feasibility

  • Availability of funding, materials, and qualified labor

  • The Foundation’s existing commitments

The Foundation may be unable to accept a project even when a genuine need exists. Applicants may also be asked to provide proof of ownership, residency, income, insurance, estimates, photographs, or other supporting documentation.

Assistance decisions are made without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin, familial status, or any other status protected by applicable law.

Understanding the Scope of Our Work

Unless specifically approved as part of an eligible project, assistance generally does not include:

  • Luxury remodeling

  • Decorative or purely cosmetic updates

  • Vacation homes or rental properties

  • Commercial properties

  • New-home construction

  • Routine housekeeping or property maintenance

  • Landscaping unrelated to safety or accessibility

  • Reimbursement for previously completed work

  • Projects that cannot be completed safely or lawfully

  • Work requiring resources beyond the Foundation’s capacity

Including this section will help reduce requests that do not fit the Foundation’s mission.
